Letter from School Administration Regarding Cornonavirus
Dear Dallas City Staff, Parents and Community Members:
As you are aware, we are entering a period of heightened concern regarding the Coronavirus. Please know that the administration is closely following this issue and are creating plans for the various scenarios that could happen.
We are leaning on our health department, Illinois Department of Health, State, and Federal government for direction. We are currently considering creating E-Learning Plans just in case, but we have not decided whether we will use E-Learning days and we will have a plan in case.
As of right now, we do not have any confirmed cases of the positive COVID-19 in our area. We will monitor the situation and contact you. Per a recommendation of the Illinois State Board of Education, our school district has eliminated all non-essential travel for professional development and field trips. Athletic event trips have not been cancelled at this time, but this could change based upon advice from the Hancock County Health Department.
We understand Easter Break will soon be here, and several of our families and staff members may be traveling. Per the advice of the Hancock County Health Department, we are monitoring the locations where students and staff are traveling and will be following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control regarding travel restrictions/guidance.

We are coordinating with the Hancock County Health Department and Hancock County Emergency Management regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). Our goal is to keep our schools open but will rely on the aforementioned agencies for guidance.
It goes without saying that while this heightened state of concern may weigh on our shoulders, our students need us to support them if they begin to show signs of anxiety or “fear” from things they hear. We are in uncharted territory and our staff will do our best to navigate this pandemic in a fact-based and rational manner.
Any additional information regarding this situation will be added to our website and Facebook page as well.
Yours in Education,
Dr. Michelle R. Lee, Superintendent Mrs. Alissa Tucker, Principal
